Download a complete GOG offline installer before you need it
Find backup installers in your GOG library, download every required part and test an installation while still online.
In brief
Many GOG purchases provide standalone offline installers alongside installation through GOG GALAXY. The backup package must be complete: a small setup executable may rely on several companion files.
A tested installer is useful for a new computer or a slow connection, without relying on downloading the same large game again.
The library route follows GOG’s download instructions. The multi-part scenario is illustrative; no specific game or offline mode is claimed as tested.
Choose the correct package
In your browser, sign in to your own GOG library, open the purchased game and expand Download offline backup game installers. Select the operating system/language offered, then download the listed setup files for one version. A GALAXY web installer is not a substitute for a complete offline package.
Match Windows, macOS or Linux and the language/version offered for your purchase. Download the setup file plus every required data part. Avoid mixing parts from different versions or renaming them arbitrarily; keep the original package names together.

Verify by installing
Use a test location or another suitable machine where practical, and launch the game. Finish any first-run components while online. Confirm offline behaviour by disconnecting only after setup; a game with an external online dependency can still require a connection.
Keep the backup maintainable
Label the folder with the game and installer version, and keep patch files if they are needed. Store your save backup separately with its source location noted. Do not share licensed installer packages publicly just because they can run without a store client.
The setup asks for another part: what to inspect
Imagine the download list contains a setup executable and two companion data parts. Those are illustrative package roles, not filenames for a specific game. If setup requests a missing part, compare your folder with that version’s download list: check for an unfinished browser download, an omitted part or a renamed duplicate.
Keep every required part together with its original name. A file ending in a browser’s partial-download extension is not a finished installer. If one part is incomplete, obtain the matching part from your account; do not borrow a similarly named file from another version or an unofficial mirror.
After copying the complete folder to backup storage, run a test installation where appropriate and open the game. Note the installer version and what worked offline. The package restores installation files, not necessarily your saves, DLC entitlements or a game’s external online service. Preserve the separate save backup too.
| Symptom | First check | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Installer requests a part | All parts for the same version are present | Mixing different release packages |
| Installer appears downloaded but will not open | Download completion and correct operating system | Changing extensions to force it open |
| Installed game needs the network | Game-specific service requirements | Assuming every mode works offline |

Before you act
An offline installer does not guarantee offline multiplayer, launcher-free external services or automatic future patches. Check the particular game’s requirements and installer version.
What to do next
- Open the purchased game in your GOG account library and choose its offline backup installers.
- Select the correct operating system and download all parts of the same version into one folder.
- Test installation and launch, then keep the complete package and required patches on separate storage.
