When is this useful?
- Compare a download with a publisher checksum.
- Check whether two local copies contain the same bytes.
Know the limits
The 25 MiB cap protects memory; the file is read into memory. A matching hash proves a match with that reference, not that software is safe or authentic. The reference source matters.
Privacy
Processing happens in the browser; tool inputs and files are not sent to a server. Hosting still receives ordinary page requests. If you consent to optional analytics, the site records an operation type without its content. Local saving is optional.
Practical questions
Do I need an account?
No. It works directly in a modern browser.
Is local storage required?
Operations do not require saving. Bookmarks and checklist persistence use storage only when requested or enabled.
Does a result guarantee accuracy or safety?
