Use AI vision for screenshots and charts, then verify the detail
Provide a readable relevant image, separate what is visible from interpretation and check small text, units and labels yourself.
In brief
Vision-capable AI can describe and interpret images, but a plausible explanation may still misread a label, axis or small number. Ask for visible evidence and mark unreadable areas rather than requesting a confident guess.
A focused screenshot can help explain an error or interface without sending your whole desktop.
Make the image usable
Use a readable original instead of repeatedly compressed thumbnails. Include the chart legend or surrounding error context when needed. Cropping away the axis can remove the information required to interpret a trend, while including unrelated desktop content adds privacy risk.
Separate observation from inference
For an error screenshot, ask which text is visible and which cause is only a possibility. For a chart, identify the axes, units and series before asking for a conclusion. Do not treat a model’s claimed hidden file path or hardware state as something it actually saw.
Check the actionable part
Verify commands or settings against the actual platform. If a value is unreadable, inspect the source data rather than accepting a reconstructed digit. For a receipt, reconcile totals; for a chart, confirm whether a nonzero axis makes a visual difference look larger.
Before you act
Vision does not establish hidden state, product authenticity or exact measurement from an arbitrary picture. Specialized or consequential judgments need appropriate expertise and evidence.
What to do next
- Crop to the relevant area and redact private information in a verified copy.
- Ask for the visible text or structure first, then the interpretation you need.
- Compare important labels, values and proposed actions with the original or product documentation.
